Round 2Monday, January 6, 2014Wednesday, March 26, 2014
Round 3Monday, April 7, 2014Wednesday, May 14, 2014

PLEASE NOTE:
When to Apply:
To avoid overwhelming server traffic generated by the high volume of applications we receive, candidates are encouraged to submit their application as early as possible prior to the deadline of each round.

Applicants are encouraged to apply in the first or second round, as space in the class may be limited by the third round.

In addition, applying in the earlier rounds will give candidates more time to address the following:
  • International candidates needing visas will find that applying in Round 3 makes the timing of their visa application stressful.
  • International candidates admitted in Rounds 1 and 2 find that it’s helpful to have the additional time to work on English proficiency.
  • Some candidates may be required to complete preliminary course work prior to their enrollment.
  • Many deadlines for outside (non-Harvard Business School) fellowships are in early spring. Only students who have been accepted are eligible for these fellowships.
  • Financial aid is available regardless of when students are admitted. However, since admitted students may apply for financial aid only after they are admitted Round 3 admits have less time to prepare their application.
  • Harvard Business School residence halls and Harvard University-affiliated apartments are assigned by lottery. Deadlines for both of these housing options precede Round 3 notification, and you must be admitted to HBS before you can enter these lotteries.

About the Scholarship
Each year, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission invites each nominating agency, university or university body to forward a specific number of nominations for the commonwealth scholarship for developing countries. Each nominating agency/university/university body is responsible for its own selection process, and in most cases they will set a closing date in the months preceding the CSC’s deadline for nominations (17 December 2013).
There is a nominating agency for Commonwealth Scholarships in each Commonwealth country. In addition, universities and university bodies in a number of developing Commonwealth countries are invited to nominate candidates to the CSC.

Scholarship Type: Masters and PhD Scholarship for developing Countries

Selection Criteria
Applications are considered according to the following selection criteria:
  • Academic merit of the candidate
  • Quality of the proposal
  • Likely impact of the work on the development of the candidate’s home country.

Number of Scholarships: Approximately 300 scholarships are awarded each year. The CSC invites around three times more nominations than scholarships available – therefore, nominated candidates are not guaranteed to get a scholarship. There are no quotas for scholarships for any individual country. Candidates nominated by national nominating agencies are in competition with those nominated by universities/university bodies, and the same standards will be applied to applications made through either channel.

Duration of Scholarships: For the duration of the programme.

To be taken at: UK Universities

How to Apply: All applications must be made through your nominating agency (or university/university body, if applicable) in your home country.
